The Vereinigung Stuttgarter Studentenwohnheime e.V. (Stuttgart Student Residence Association) was founded in 1969 by members of the University of Stuttgart with the aim of creating attractive living spaces for students. Thanks to this unprecedented initiative, 2,578 residential units have been built in seven residential complexes on land provided by the state of Baden-Württemberg under hereditary building rights since 1973, both on the Stuttgart-Vaihingen university campus and in the city center.
